Eden's Ears

We parents are so funny with our rules and codes...I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 8 and so heaven forbid if I let Eden. She first asked when she was 4 and has patiently waited ever since. Today was the day folks and boy was she excited! Here is a clip:



She and her bud Katie took the plunge together. I honestly can't believe how fast my baby is growing up!

YAY! Congrats to Eden! Did you see the Oprah show when Oprah got hers pierced a year or so ago? Emma wants hers pierced, too. But I had to wait until I was 10 so I've been thinking about making that same rule for her. But maybe she wont' make it to 10. A friend of mine pierced her daughter's ears when she was a baby, but Chance forbid it saying that if she was going to have piercings she was going to have to choose to get them herself when she was older. All of that is true, but it sure is much easier to get it done with they are little.

Way to go, Eden. You're a brave soul.

That is so cute! I think I had to wait until I was 10 but I still remember it! Makes me want to have a girl :)

That is sooo cute! She looks like she is fighting the tears- but all smiles!! You just tell her she is lucky- because I had to wait until I was 12!! She is really growing up fast!

Anyway, yay for Eden, I so remember my mom losing her patience with me and finally throwing me in the car to go get my ears pierced, because I would not let it go! I don't let my girls get their ears pierced until they are 8 either. But that's a step up for me cuz I had to wait until I was 12and I always thought that was dumb.
I love seeing your blog. I'm not sure how I got here. I think thru Daisy's and then thru Makay's. Love it.

Dave got the heads up this morning that we were going to have a couple of "special" talks on reverence today as the Stake Presidency was a little concerned about how loud our sacrament meetings have become. I thought ~ great, let's prep the kids ~ I told them that they were to be on their best behavior, no snacks, no toys, no talking, you get the idea... The meeting went pretty smooth until the Bishop got up. He very tenderly started talking about how important it is that we teach our children about the sacrament...it was at that moment that my family fell a part. Child Rearing Race

My visiting brother from Utah and I were left without spouses for 4 days. This wouldn't have been such a big deal, but our kids had already been together 24/7 for 6 days and our boys couldn't think of anything better to do than fight. I don't know about you, but 1 entire day of fighting is enough to drive one mad--now times that by 4. Near the end of the week(and our rope) my brother and I had a heart to heart and posed the question~what in life could be more mentally difficult than this? The only thing I could think of (now remember, we'd just run the Ragnar) was running a marathon. Someone once told me that if you could mentally get through a marathon, you could get through anything. So, I put it to the test...I ran a... OK , not a marathon, but a 1/2. Raising children and running difficult races are so much the same. They both require so much of you emotionally, physically and mentally and yet the end reward is so gratifying. Bag the privacy!

So I tried the privacy thing and it just isnt' working. What am I afraid of anyway? please tell me that terrible people won't track us down! For those that know me well, you know that I am a Law and Order/Dateline/48 Hours Mystery junkie. I have too many morbid stories floating around in my head!
