Cupcake month

Should we just re-name the month of January "Cupcake Month"? We have three birthdays and an anniversary all within 20 days of each other--- what were we thinking? Actually, that's the problem, we weren't thinking!

Last week we went through 5 boxes of cake mix, 1 brownie mix and a pie from MC. On second thought, maybe we should re-name the first week of January "temptation week" My family is doing a "biggest loser" challenge as part of a new year's resolution. I have sworn off sweets for one year and this birthday party food is testing every ounce of my self control.

Eden had a mock slumber party on Friday and Luke took a couple of friends to Chuck E Cheese the following Tuesday. Note for the future--parties away from the home are A LOT less stressful.

Our cupcake time of the year is April through June. 4/17, 4/18, 5/3, 5/3 and 6/7. Plus, we tend to do a "family party" and a "friend's party" for each kid. Yikes!!

Looks like they both had lots of fun! Hope your anniversary was/is splendiforous and sweets-free.

Your kids are growing up so fast! And, hey, at least you have something to celebrate in the cold, dreary winter month of January! (That's why we got married in January - we wanted something to look forward to after Christmas! Hope you are all well and survive the partying!

Dave and B-
It was SO good to see you guys! Annika LOVED playing with Edoo. All she would talk about for days was Eden. "Mom, why can't Eden live here?" "Can we sail to Washington?" It was really cute. Anyway, we are missing you guys so much already! I'm so glad you are planning TRIPS this summer! We will be looking forward to it!
And HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to EDEN and LUKEY!! We have a little something for them but are a little, okay a LOT late getting them off!:) Maybe by the time Tuck's Birthday rolls around we can get it together!! Give them all lots of hugs and kisses from us. Love you guys!
P.S. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY on Tuesday!! EIGHT YEARS and counting-WOO HOO!!

Cute cute kids! I love that I recognize all the features in your house - like "that's a cool chair that all the kids are sitting in - wait, that's Bianca's anniversary present from a few years ago - it looks good in that placement, etc".

Always looking out for ya.

As for B-days, i sent all of my boys up on the train and grandma threw them a party. It really should have been my b-day present-to be alone by myself for a few days and not having to throw a party- huh? can you say "lazy, tired and 8 mos pregnant??"

hope to see you next week!!!!!
I love cupcakes and your kids are growing up fast.

You are stronger than I am. I can't say no to any sort of "treat"!! You are my inspiration to at least cut down. :)

Bianca--similar situation for us. Sydney's day is the 19th and Simon's the 22nd. I feel bad for Si--I usually don't have much energy for him after doing stuff for Syd. I look forward to when they will be a bit older and we can say, "let's go snowboarding this weekend--call a friend" (their days almost always straddle Martin Luther King, Jr Day).

I am impressed by your will-power (can I have some???).

Baby Charlotte

My official due date was August 17th or 15th depending on who you ask. Both Eden and Eliza were born exactly 13 days before their due date. So, when I went in for my 38th week appointment Monday morning, August 4th I reminded my doctor that not only do I come early but when my water breaks, I deliver lightning fast. He checked me. I was a 2 and 80% effaced. His last piece of advice was to rush to the hospital if I started contracting at all due to my VBAC risk. He also joked that he would most likely be seeing me next week...my contractions started 7 hours later... Driving Eliza to harp lessons they were 5 minutes apart. Came home for dinner at 7 and then varied from 5-7 minutes. Contractions stopped at 10:30 but woke me up at 12:30. Dave and I decided to go to the hospital at 1:30. Despite the intense pain, the nurses check revealed that I was still only a 2. She hooked me up to the monitor, and for one hour I suffered through some intense contractions spaced at exactly 1.5 minutes ...

Let's just call this paybacks

Dave got the heads up this morning that we were going to have a couple of "special" talks on reverence today as the Stake Presidency was a little concerned about how loud our sacrament meetings have become. I thought ~ great, let's prep the kids ~ I told them that they were to be on their best behavior, no snacks, no toys, no talking, you get the idea... The meeting went pretty smooth until the Bishop got up. He very tenderly started talking about how important it is that we teach our children about the sacrament...it was at that moment that my family fell a part. Eden and Luke started fighting and Liza and Tucker started screaming---did I mention we were on the second row? I grabbed Luke and put him in a body hold and motioned for Dave to get Tuck and Liza out. Dave left with Liza and Tuck (so I thought...) and next thing you know, Tucker is up on the stand running back and forth behind the Bishop. My sweet friend sitting next to me jumped up to get Tuck, but he of cours...

Lesson Learned

Have you ever been in a grocery or Target type store with all your kiddos and had a lovely employee tell your children to "please sit down in the cart!"? Well I have...several times. Each time I politely smile and say sorry, but all the while my brain is filled with smart aleck comments like "hey, last time I checked, I was their mother," or, "lady it's either standing up in the cart or pulling product off your shelves-you choose!" I have been sufficiently humbled. This morning, like all mornings, I put Eliza in her high chair to get her out of my hair for a moment so that I could make breakfast. She immediately climbed out and was about to stand on the table when she lost her balance and fell to the floor. I raced over to pick her up and noticed that while she was trying to scream nothing was coming out of her mouth. I picked her up and she started seizing, her eyes rolled back into her head and then she went limp. No words can describe the thoughts...
